VIII VI VIII

If you really liked 868-HACK but wished it had a bit more blood and sandals, Hoplite (iOS, Android) may be your thing...

(Touch Arcade thread where it appears to be causing people to sacrifice their GotY to the ancient gods)

Yep, I gushed about this game on our Mobile Roguelikes episode. It's great to see a new release of it with added replayability (the 7drl version got a little boring after winning). One thing I really love is that you can play it one-handed on a phone - perfect for commuting!

It's a very nice game & I'm glad to see the improved version out there.

However I don't see how much commonality it has with 868-HACK, other than the fact they are both somewhat minimalist mobile roguelikes? How is it closer to 868-hack than to, say: zaga33, microgue, ending, dungeonism, etc?

"minimalist mobile roguelikes" was similar enough for me...
